ngTLD Innovation – .FROGANS the first TLD not selling domain names..

When ICANN in 2012 let anyone apply for their own TLD (Top Level Domain) one of the goals with the program was “enabling the benefits of innovation via the introduction of new gTLDs”, but how much innovation have we actually seen so far? We can see innovative domain names such as “heavenly.coffee” being registered, but true innovation is still something we have not seen yet, until now.

The .FROGANS gTLD will enable publishing content on the internet with a completely new technology. They will not be selling domains for websites or email. The technology they will introduce comes with the registration of a new type of “address” for a new type of “site” that will work everywhere, on every device but still requires the domain name system even if it is invisible to end users. The only domain names on the web like the once we are use to see will be get.frogans and fcr.frogans which will be the sources for initial downloads of Frogans Player software and registration of Frogans addresses.

.FROGANS will allow businesses to have an app like presence using only a very small amount of bandwidth, maximum size 320 x 240 pixels. Content can include restaurant menus, stock or currency updates, news headlines, stock or any other easily viewed data. The “address” used is only the name and with the limited space it is only possible to do a limited number of things. Security has been prioritized and the sites are designed to prevent phishing of all types.

Address characters can be registered in ten language scripts – Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Arabic, Korean, Devanagari, Cyrillic, Hebrew and Latin.

End users will have to download the “Frogans Player”, a small download still under development with launch expected at about the same time as .FROGANS launch in mid-2015
